Default Drive-by Truckers tonite...yea or nay?

Anyone heard or been to a recent concert?

I checked out their website -- reading between the lines of what Patterson Hood has posted lately, it sort of sounds like he and Cooley, between having Isbell drop a bombshell on them and the sheer drudgery of 15 or so years together, were seriously getting tired of it all and thinking about calling it quits, but decided to do a "sensitive acoustic reassessment" tour to see if they could breathe some life and fun back into it for them.

Which is great and all for them, but I'm highly skeptical that it's going to be much fun for anyone else except the seriously devoted. And Sundown's such a hassle and unpleasant to begin with that as much as I like DBT, I'm pretty much on the fence right now.

    Hell "yea"
I'm going with two kids in tow. What's the worst that happens? You're unimpressed and you go home. My guess is that they won't suck.

She's filled with secrets. Where we're from, the birds sing a pretty song, and there's always music in the air.

Let me rephrase the question -- is this basically an all-acoustic show? As in, more or less no big, loud, mean stuff? No Zip City? No Lookout Mountain?

Does he ever. He used to make me play SRO literally every day for weeks on the way to nursery school, and he'd make me roll down the windows while yelilng "Turn it up, Daddy! Turn it up!" He even tried to get me to drive onto the playground at school one morning so everyone could hear him coming. Embracing his inner redneck, as my friend Jay says.

But when I warned him this morning that the show tonight might be a soft, sensitive, meaningful sort of thing, he first gave me a "what cho talkin' bout willis?" look, then got a big, sad frown. So I think he's about as apathetic about going now as I am.

From the initial soundcheck in progress, I'd say "no."
