Damn, you bring me such happy stuff to consume with my morning coffee.

I'll be reading ingredient labels on shampoo and other stuff all day now.

In Boston at the annual Endocrine Society meeting in June, Clifford Bloch of the University of Colorado School of Medicine presented several cases of young men who had developed marked breast enlargement from using shampoos containing lavender and tea tree oils.

Somehow, I sense a marketing opportunity here. I can see the ads now at the back of magazines. (Geared toward women, not men.)

I have read before that our tap water contains so many hormones that we are all essentially taking an estrogen supplement, and God knows how many unidentified antibiotics.

But if knowing your enemy is the most basic rule of war

uhm, he does remember whos president right now, correct? we dont exactly have a man with military, international or historical expertise in the oval office right now, or one that even cares about that sort of thing(heres hoping Clark runs again in 08. if we are still at war, it would be nice to have someone in charge who UNDERSTANDS war from firsthand experience).

Take Representative Terry Everett, a seven-term Alabama Republican who is vice chairman of the House intelligence subcommittee on technical and tactical intelligence. “Do you know the difference between a Sunni and a Shiite?” I asked him a few weeks ago. Mr. Everett responded with a low chuckle. He thought for a moment: “One’s in one location, another’s in another location. No, to be honest with you, I don’t know. I thought it was differences in their religion, different families or something.”

why am i not surprised that a alabama republican cant answer that question correctly?

Without reading the piece (though I looked at the hed), the two sects split the main branch of Islam after Muhammad died; those who would become the Sunnis accorded authority to Muhammad's named successor while the Shiites went for the prophet's blood descendent (a nephew, I think) Ali. Did I get it right? Mostly right? What do I win?

how about the right to realize that you know more about the conflict at hand than many of the politicians in charge of it?

Look, our Gov't knows the difference between their ass and a hole in the ground. Solutions, they pull out of their ass. Two bit dictators, out of holes in the ground.
