    Default Music Universals Study

    http://music.media.mit.edu/?f=main

This web-based experiment is part of an investigation of the universality of various aspects of music perception.

Why do we like some sorts of music but not others?

Are there innate constraints on how we hear music?

How do people perceive the structure of music?

Collecting data from around the world can help to illuminate these issues by revealing how different aspects of music perception vary with culture, age, musical training, and other factors. By taking part in our study you can provide us with some of this data!

Anyone who wishes to do so may participate in our study. The questions should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Where odd audio errata, ephemeralities, and nonsense occasionally collide with actual music for serious contemplation. Trouble is - I'm not saying what is which.

Compare that to the 30, 60, and even 75 minutes other questions take in Asheville, Chicago and Atlanta and I venture you'll agree that these will actually save you time.

I will forever regret not taking that MIT scholarship offer and getting the hell out of Murvil.

I didn't know that about you. One can understand your regret. For myself, I can't say the same.

I wish I had applied myself (in college, I mean). As such, you'll understand why I'm procastinating about taking that test.

    It's not a test - it's all subjective.
    Fear it not.
