I just cried...and paid them the $1000. Then I tried to complain and essentially got nowhere.

should have told them to take it back and unload it. did you not get it in writing? a verbal contract is your word against theirs. That sucks kag.
they are a member of BBB so you should file a complaint.

Our movers this time are ourselves, with help from Jon's extremely nice family who live in Knoxville.

they have 10 complaints in the last 36 months. so your word would be probably accepted over theirs.
