And I am all about the MAC but the hipster does get on my nerves. Most likely cause that character would purchase a $212 Armani Xchange hoodie cause it looks like vintage hobo couture.

How many times have I had this fricken conversation ... and usually it is with some recent SCAD, Fullsail or Film School Grad. The bottom line is this, use what ever works, I have a loaded from-scratch PC at home and have done the majority of my self-produced music videos on it or on an Avid Symphony(PC Based) - Avid moved away from Macs back in 99 or 2000 because Mac closed its platform and wouldn't let Avid do any R&D on the Macs until they were on the shelves(they were already working on FCP at the time) Many Avid users stayed with Avid, albeit with some heartburn, and those that did found it to be similar in most respects, stable as a platform and upgradable without spending an arm and a leg. The idea that you need a Mac to be creative is a rediculous conclusion to make and not very informed. Fact is, I'll take my Avid DS over about anything that exists - It's on a PC running Windows XP Pro.

Actually what MAC does is make it easier to use and access all of the low level creative tools, which, while making it easier for actual creative people to get started in their creative endeavors, it also makes it easier for vidiots to pretend they're being creative.

"Easier to use and access all of the "low level" creative tools" ... hmmm let me think about that - I guess Macs are "low level" in our industry, or more specifically in the video editing realm of our business. But I do not consider ANY Mac to be an entry level computer outside of our business. For the cost of a scaled down iMac I can set you up with the industry standard Avid editing software and a screaming PC with After Effects Photoshop and have you editing in a couple of hours.

Not really sure how you come to this conclusion. I started on a Mac, when Avid and them were still in cahoots and then later moved to the PC platform and it was no different, in terms of learning to use it. I have a buddy that tried to tell me how much easier it was to do this and that and in the end it amounted to a "different" way of doing the same thing, not easier, just different. I have had to rebuild Macs and PCs from the ground up and I am telling you, there is really not much different and then again it is all different.

I have had the same conversation concerning Final Cut verses Avid and I say the same thing, "whatever works" for you. Funny thing about stuff like this, when I was in the Marine Corps I always heard arguements about who was the toughest or hardest-core, Army, Navy or Marine Corps? I was just doing my time getting what I needed out of it and moving on - I am not working for PC or Mac or Avid or Final Cut and therefore I usually stay out of these conversations. I guess as long as there are differences we'll try to measure them out and put them in order of first to last, most to least, best to worst and so on.
