Thread: India and women.

    Default India and women.

I am sorry. Sorry for how this turned out - although details of her injuries made me think this outcome might be preferable to her - and sorry to bring it up here. But it has been big international news not getting much American press, and the impact on India and Asia in terms of women's rights, and especially attitudes about violence against women, has been huge. India is in an uproar about this incident, and I am so sad for this whole situation. It is heartbreaking and would be dispiriting but for the brave and intense protests - by both women and men - going on in India.

I like to think all the shit the world is going through is going to sprout positive change some day.

I've heard quite a bit about it and it's really sad. What the fuck is up with some people? Is it mob mentality/groupthink at work. None of the participants thought for a moment, "Hey, this is really, really, really wrong..."?

Fixed. You're right F Stop it is pitiful, unfortunately it's not uncommon all around the world.

In the USA women can't count on the men to take a stand either. Right now the Violence Against Women Act is coming up for renewal. Asking men to pass a law to protect women against violence??? Permission to be safe?? And the men are having to debate whether or not to pass it??? Make some phone calls folks.

Hildegard, it will get better. Women like yourself are part of the solution. The End of Men bt Hanna Rosin is a good read. Change is possible.
