see, i think this is where you run up against some resistance around here. i won't speak for any other blabbers, but i know that i DO NOT WANT a revolution. modern liberal democracy may not be a utopia, but it's still the option i prefer. the american experiment is just that—it's a social compact among hundreds of millions of people over more than 200 years that's always changing. there's lots of policy i disagree with, lots of it that flummoxes, confounds, or outrages me, but the system that we have, as flawed as it might be, is the best way i know of for us to live together.
this isn't an excuse for the violence and hate that are a big part of our shared legacy. it's an acknowledgment of who and what we are, and all the good and bad that entails. until something demonstrably better comes along, i'll stick with liberal democracy.
