A facebook post I stumbled upon:

"I just felt impressed to ask everyone to say a prayer for our country today and for God’s chosen people Israel. I am so troubled by what is happening in the Middle East. I know God is still in control but, in the Bible, there were times that He allowed wicked, mean rulers because of the sins of the nation. As a nation, we have kicked God out of every aspect of our lives. I look at the Islamist Extremist, and I don’t condone at all what they are doing, but I wondered this morning, if the only true and living God, the Great Jehovah, doesn’t wonder why Christians don’t stand up more for Christ. Again, I think what they are doing is wrong, and I don’t think we should do the same, but if Christians had stood up during the past several years and resisted the atheists who threatened lawsuits, we may not be in the shape that we are as a nation. I didn’t think the day would ever come in America where my husband, who is a preacher/pastor could be jailed or worse for preaching the Bible. I’m not so sure anymore.

I hope I haven’t offended anyone, but I believe in prayer, and God still has many children in this nation who can call out to Him and pray for wisdom for our leaders."

"one must lower the standards in order to make probable, if not certain, the actualization of the right or desirable social order or in order to conquer chance" Leo Strauss.

I have been reading "dark marxist" interpretations of Marx and Hegel lately. (because Toby has gotten lazy). Carl Schmitt, Kojeve, Fukuyama, Leo Strauss. Scmitts contribution to political philosophy was that political philosophy was a kind of theology once removed. He supported the nazis and was one of the first "dark (or occult) Marxists". The rest on this list WISHED they could have supported the Nazis or something like it.

There's a whole virulent strain of people who flipped Marx on his head. Leo Strauss as you may know was a chicago school philosopher (also home of economist wonderborg Milton Friedman) and basically his conception of political philosophy is a wonderfully nefarious brand of Nietzschean power mongering.

The utilitarian view of politics and philosophy is that "evil is other people" and that evil is some kind of ominous cloud always "over there" somewhere. The Straussian or as i call them, "dark Marxists", actively seek to step into the role of evil as the true control room of history. Machiavellianism.

Ironically I think this is the "correct" interpretation of history. Not necessarily Hegelian but definitely Marxist in that Evil is the engine of human evolution. Each new culture is a reaction to true evils inevitable domination of the former each new instantiation forever doomed from its beginning to be snatched away and used once again as a bludgeoning tool at some point in its future.

Another way to look at neo-conservatism would be Pynchons horrid fascination with bureaucracy as a carrier wave for sheer terror and raw paranoia. Strauss also made claims towards the fact that terrorism was a kind of antidote for lazy governance. Sound familiar?
Snakes disappearing into a cascading waterfall of bureaucracy.

The Straussian reading of political philosophy was to basically skim to anyplace where it said "evil" or "bad for society", make a list of those evil worst case scenarios
And then embody them as best practice in your applied governing philosophy.

Strauss went as far as to say that Locke, Hobbes, Smith and especially Machiavelli hid the same message as his modern interpretation for those smart enough to decipher it.

Anyways, my point is "yes, they know it". Not necessarily Duncan perhaps but whatever Rovebot cranks
Out the p.r./talking point faxes every morning.

These people have discovered that there is power in blasphemy and reversal. Until we can find a way to stand Strauss and neo-con political philosophy on its head, all of this will only get more absurd.

Al Gore recently called for the elimination of the electoral college on his very own tee vee channel. So he is definitely a bad guy terrorist sympathizer maybe.

    Retroactively, I assume.

Where odd audio errata, ephemeralities, and nonsense occasionally collide with actual music for serious contemplation. Trouble is - I'm not saying what is which.
