Well, duh, guns are better than health insurance.

Default Guns don't kill people; the NRA does.

I think I know what you mean (and is not what I am about to describe), but that is also the standard alibi that Charlton Heston uses to defend NRA lobby against reasonable gun control, AND Limbaughs defense against those who believe that hate-speech by his ilk works to incite people like this (and James Adkinson) to violent actions.

A news report on npr this afternoon stated that the shooter had 4 weapons, "all of which were legally purchased in the last month." Isn't this a bloody red signal that those laws are fucked-up? And of course, the laws/or lack of, PLUS the society that tolerates hatemongers like the Limbaughs must expect that this is an inevitable consequence.

In France a couple months ago, a right wing racist opened fire on a Jewish preschool and murdered a dozen or so employees and children. Then there was that thing in Norway - 80 something dead? But it really is becoming a mundane recurrence here in America. This morning as we were getting ready for work, my husband asked me why I thought people do things like this. I told him there is no reason. They make up reasons, like race, religion, politics, society, etc., but that's all just bullshit. They don't think about it. They just have guns, and they want to kill people. It's as simple as that.

After all, you never know when you're going to have to kill somebody.
Like it would have done any good with this guy. He had on pretty much full body armor, including a helmet. Dude was making sure he survived.

Can't you just imagine a half a dozen armed citizens, exercising their right to carry, standing up in the theatre and having a shoot out! 8/

I refuse to imagine it. I may, however, have bad dreams about it.
