The big ol' tent GOP keeps getting bigger and bigger every day. I really believe guys like him, and those who think like he does have completely taken over the GOP, and will force out many moderate repubs forever. The fright wingers like him have taken it over, and they will not give it back.
So, here in this oh so Christian nation, the only meaningful measure of productivity and/or worth to the mass of society, is one's current monetary wealth. He makes no allowances for why you might be poor. Whether you have given away your worldly goods a la the teachings of the Christ, whether you have that which you produced stolen from you by corporate criminals, whether you skipped college for the military and have medical/psychological issues deriving from that experience, whatever the reason, if you are poor you are unproductive and unworthy of the vote.Originally Posted by Hildegard

24th Amendment to US Constitution: The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state by reason of failure to pay any poll tax or other tax.
I thought that sort of thing was pretty much settled law.
