    On a different sort of architectural tip, this 130-year-old building is about a block and a half from my office. It started as a hotel, then morphed into apartments (my wife lived there for a while as an emancipated teen), then for years it sat derelict, open to the weather and the pigeons. It recently got a full rehab and is a hotel again.
