Default You might be a Republican if...

You've picked your 2012 presidential candidate:

Public Policy Polling (PDF) (4/4-7, Republican primary voters, no trendlines):

    Donald Trump (R): 26
    Mike Huckabee (R): 17
    Mitt Romney (R): 15
    Newt Gingrich (R): 11
    Sarah Palin (R): 8
    Ron Paul (R): 5
    Michele Bachmann (R): 4
    Tim Pawlenty (R): 4
    Someone else/Undecided: 10

I think yr smarter GOP strategists are perfectly happy to keep Obama around for another term, given their options. He keeps the base totally whipped up and freaked out (because of being a Kenyan-muslim-socialist-etc and other things that Johnny Ringo will keep telling us have nothing to do with you-know-what) while actually advancing at best a middle-of-the-road corporate-friendly agenda.

I notice you are not actually arguing my point.

Hearing arguments can be an occupational hazard. Participating is a personal choice.

Looking at that list and realizing that 1.5 out of the 8 people listed are actually electable may result in nausea. I understand.

And there's a strong chance that they'll take the Senate. Not because of the political mood, which may be shifting away, but because Democrats have 23 seats on the block this time around to the Republicans 10. Look forward to Obama announcing historic compromises on bipartisan bills to divert school lunch money to build border fences and eliminate the capital gains tax on transactions over $1 million.
