Thread: Wisconsin takes a hard right turn

Default Wisconsin takes a hard right turn

Who would believe what is happening right now in Wisconsin?

The nation's most aggressive anti-union proposal has been speeding through the Legislature since Republican Gov. Scott Walker introduced it a week ago. After clearing a major legislative hurdle Wednesday night, it was headed to votes in the Senate and Assembly.

Hundreds of protesters massed outside the Senate chamber on the second floor of the Capitol early Thursday, hours before the planned vote. Republican leaders said it has the votes to pass in both the Senate and Assembly.

The bill marks a dramatic shift for Wisconsin, which passed a comprehensive collective bargaining law in 1959 and was the birthplace of the national union representing all non-federal public employees.

Maybe you haven't heard, but after 3 days of thousands of people in the street, the governor is reconsidering.

    Try to keep up.

Two inflammatory topics in two days? Does the child need some attention?

This story, posted less than 2 hours ago as I post this, makes no mention of any change of heart by the Governor who, when last I heard from him, was considering calling out the national guard in case there was any large scale illegal job actions in response to the legislation. So where do you find this?

The only thing the Governor is considering is whether to run for President in 2012.

After the voters of Wisconsin gave control of the governor's mansion and the legislature to the Republicans, the Democrats lament: "The story around the world is the rush to democracy," said Democratic Sen. Bob Jauch of Poplar. "The story in Wisconsin is the end of the democratic process."

(To be fair to Sen. Jauch, I think he's the victim of a misquote. I'm sure he meant to say it was the end of the Democratic process.)

Thus, because the action they don't like is about to be adopted by majorities of both houses, the Democrats have now absented themselves from the capitol, assuring the preservation of the Wisconsin democratic process by bringing it to a halt.

Wisconsin Democrats are not acting very democratically. So the Wisconsin State Patrol has been sent to round up the undemocratic Democrats.

Nice touch with the wording huh Jesse? Not quite as clever as your TYP tirade in the Pulse. But a good effort.

Is this the beginning of the end for the Democratic Party in the USA?
