I figure if I wait awhile I will not have to listen to Taylor Swift,
Shes such a nice girl......

So I got to listen XM's Country Xmas station quite a while over the holiday, and I must say Taylor Swift's version of "White Christmas" is supremely awful. The worst of the worst of the worst. I expected a two syllable countrified pronunciation of white, but it is like she isn't even pronouncing the "t" at all. The whole tempo of the song is screwed up as well.
I heard a couple others by her, "Santa Baby" and something else, that were ok in a plucky sort of way.
My niece told me yesterday she got tickets to a Taylor Swift concert for Christmas. I immediately thought she might take gypsy, but at 17 I think she's a bit young for him.

SOURCE
CENTENNIAL, CO—Following her split this week with One Direction singer Harry Styles, sources confirmed today that Taylor Swift has moved on and is now dating mass murder suspect James Holmes. “Taylor and James were first spotted canoodling at a pre-trial hearing, and we were able to confirm today that the two are indeed an item,” gossip blogger Perez Hilton wrote of the relationship between the 23-year-old singer-songwriter and the 25-year-old accused Aurora theater gunman, nicknaming the couple “Swolmes.” “Just this morning, fans took several photos of the lovebirds leaving the Centennial courthouse hand in hand. They’re actually really cute together.” At press time, sources reported seeing the couple heading back to Holmes’ prison cell at Arapahoe County Jail.

Yeah, um, so this is pretty good. Well crafted, melodically sound. She can write circles around 99% of so-called Nashville hitmaker songwriters, and that makes her pretty okay in my book. (and yes, this is mildly auto-tuned. Can't have it all.)

You know I mainly agree with his assessment of Taylor Swift. I still kinda like "Never Getting Back Together" even if her Grammy performance of such dally was abysmal. Seriously, could she be more bored about a joyful song? Jeesh. But this nerves me up here...
"But the character of the personal assault obscures a larger cultural issue that was implied in the article (and fleshed out in the comments section later), and that large cultural issue is this: In grim economic times, large entertainment providers become more risk averse, which means that they issue more conservative music. And because there is less innovative music, the masses of listeners themselves become more accustomed to more conservative and less interesting music. And the critics, in turn, begin to review more conservative music, and like the proverbial frog in the saucepan, the critical community sometimes comes to accommodate a musical drift into the formulaic and the mundane."
Oh come on now. Has the guy ever heard of Jamendo or Soundcloud or Youtube or ...ok is he locked up in a monastery cels with only industry shipped cd's and a writing utensils because I could swear this guy never heard of the internet. Their is plenty of risky type music out there, hell some of it's so risky that the poor stuff barely gets out of the home town region, you just gotta dig. A little. Just take a garden shovel, dig a little for half an hour and you'll find something. Honestly why complain about the turds when you toil in the toilets?
