But probably not live. Did you catch her at the Grammy's? Wow, that was bad.

it's basically a somewhat grown-up version of "love story" -- more aware of the world, but still insistent on happily-ever-after. the song structure is pretty much the same as "love story" too, doubling the chorus the second time through is one of those old tricks that she's good at. lyrically it also borrows the "love story" reversal of putting the last verse in the voice of the guy. but instead of the shameless key change at the end like "love story" does, she just goes for one of her great bridges. her songwriting mechanics are totally transparent, but she makes them work anyway. (she apparently made a point of using no co-writers at all on this album. of course, she had plenty of solo credits on the first two records.)
was listening to fearless again yesterday. despite a few duds, it's still my favorite pop-rock record of any recent vintage.

"You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter/You are the best thing that's ever been mine"
It sounds like she spends her time in the basement listening to Scott Miller and stealing rhymes. I wonder if she cheats at solitaire.
Hearing voices inside my head in Burma-Shaving rhymes
i like "i was a flight risk/with a fear of falling". i mean, you know. she's no leonard cohen. (or scott miller.) but she does pay attention to her words.
(and she sure knows her way around a hook.)

Just for the record....
her blue eyes, blonde hair, and pretty pink lips are simply ADORABLE!
That girl's got some gorgeous blue eyes. I'll stand by that statement!
She's a superstar..... and she's going supernova......... worldwide.

Im a Taylor fan. Her pop hooks are pretty amazing. If you had someone like The Jayhawks or Rhett Miller arrange and play those same songs, the music snobs at Pitchfork and Popmatters would go nuts for her material. But alas, it's Taylor Swift singing them with too much autotune and faux banjo (so they can qualify for country radio). But they are still kickass pop songs.
Nashville Country Music is not.
