Thread: A new baseball thread

    Default A new baseball thread

I've been watching reruns of games while working and writing over here. Just nice to hear English without Slovenian grammar laminated on top of it. "Is two girls coming again?" Which is this morning's unintentionally lesbian porntastic hilarious atrocity.

    That said:

Strassburg may be good, but he's a pig in a poke until he wins the Cy Young before the All-Star break like Ubaldo Jimenez has. 11-1. A no-no. .093 ERA. You want a hit/run/ER off that guy? On average, it is a meaningless solo HR.

    True.

BTW, It's fucking crazy to think it, but Todd Helton is in his 16th season this year. He's never won a World Series and probably won't, but he will be a first ballot Hall of Famer and will do it by playing every single game with the same team. I don't know if it is circumstance or by virtue, but it's pretty cool.

strasburg had an amazing first game, but i wish everybody would calm down about him a little. all players are human, and pitchers especially. i'd rather give him a little time to settle in and see how he adjusts and how hitters adjust to him. also, he was facing the pirates ffs. let's see how he does against a major league team.

that said... the way he threw last night was really something. great combination of movement and sheer power. he could be a keeper.

meanwhile, i'm happy to see the red sox have somewhat straightened themselves out, tho it in no way has the feel of being their year.

The AL East is as strong as I have ever seen it.

Yes, it look very depressing first of the season. couple years ago I said rays wouldn't hold out. going to be a yankees/bosox wildcard fight. (but it's still too early to call even that). Might have to take MTE and shady back up to Cincinnati for a cards game.
