I don't know much about it other than what's on that poster... which is really short on details. The SMB website is basically the poster and doesn't tell anything extra.

I do know however that the 4 bands that are playing are supposed to play full 90 minute sets and Jimmy Lester (first Commonwealth drummer) is filling in for Shawn McWilliams while he's on the road with Hank III. I don’t know for sure but I expect Mic & the High Score to drop a couple new songs on us and since the Abernathy Band has recently started working on their next album we might get something new from them too.

Earlier in the week I asked Chyna how kid friendly this thing was, here’s her reply, “Kids are certainly allowed, but there are no activities aimed specifically at them. That being said, the new playground and fountains are right at the edge of the event site, and as long as you keep your wristbands on you can go in and out.” I know these aren’t necessarily kid friendly bands, made even more apparent when Miller played the unedited version of “Lo Siento, Spanishburg WVa” at The Shed back in April… as if “8 Miles A Gallon” or “Drunk All Around This Town” are okay for a 9 year old to sing along to… but I’m sure Kevin’s kids will be there for a bit, Eric’s kids may be there for a bit and I know my wife and daughter’s are planning to come out for a bit too.

…as long as you keep your wristbands on you can go in and out” possibly being the most important part of that previous paragraph.

So maybe I knew a little more about it than “nothing.” Sorry for the rambling, I don’t usually drink as much coffee as I did this morning.

I just handled the booking for this one, so I don't know all of the details, myself. However, I can tell you that kids under 12 will be $5 and that the schedule has changed slightly:

    2:00 - 3:30 - Kevin Abernathy Band
    4:00 - 5:30 - The Drunk Uncles
6:00 - 7:30 - Mic Harrison and the High Score
    8:00 - raffle for 2010 Harley
    8:05ish - 9:35ish - Scott Miller and the Commonwealth

This is all going to be held on the festival lawn (the one by the big fountains) and yes, as long as you keep your wristband intact and on your wrist, ins and outs will be allowed. Beer and barbecue, along with some non-barbecue food stuff, will be available on site.

Cool, We'll try to be there. I'm wondering why nothing was mentioned about this until today. At any rate, should be fun.

Tickets are only $10, and they benefit Knox Housing Partnership. So there's two great things about this event before you even get inside the gates. Feel free to stop by the WUTK tent and register for a pair of Widespread Panic tickets (July 26 show at Tenn Theatre), and VIP passes to this year's very, very cool Floyd Fest in Miller's home Commonwealth. We'll have lots of WUTK stickers with a free Hardee's Thickburger coupon on the back, and more swag. Looking forward to a great day of music.
