Default remove/mask cat pee smell from awesome band room rug?!?!?!

so i have an AWSUM rug that we use to put on the floor in my house along with some other area rugs to help out with the sound and also it looks mighty cool to have like 8 area rugs all over the damn place. Like a Neil Young video or something.

Ok so I left it at my hippy friends house rolled up in the corner of his garage and a cat marked it big time.

I just took it to the car wash last night and spent 6 bucks blasting high pressured water and soap through it and I actually think it smells MORE like cat piss today. It is still damp and drying in the laundry room floor. What can I poor on it to just mask the smell?

No cat pee in the white house 09!!

If you can, put it out in the sun to dry.

Then go buy this stuff called "Out"...you can get it at pet stores or Wally. Spray the entire rug. Let it dry. Vacuum. Spray it again.

Might not completely get the smell out, but it will help a lot.

Obviously I am going to take the advice of someone that resides at Punkeydoodles as first rate knowledge of the particulars of this delicate situation
thank you and will report back. I just figure while its still damp it might suck in some extra good smell aromas.

If that doesn't do the job, try OdoBan. Home Depot carries it. Used to be only a commerical product. Actually eliminates the molecules that cause the odor.

I second that. My daughter's kitten had a litter box issue when we first got her (under the bed was her choice) and that "Out" stuff did the trick. We had to apply it a couple of times, but it worked.

It being on a rug should help because you can spray the back of it as well.

    Good luck!

It's probably smelling extra catty because it's still damp. I agree with the others who have suggested an enzyme based pet odor removal solution. "Nature's Miracle" works well too and it's safe around pets and children.
(do you have a Concord Pets?)

I've also found that sprinkling baking soda on the rug/carpet and then vacuuming it up helps too. Plus, it tends to stick more heavily to the urine areas and allows you to find them when you know they're there but can't quite figure out where.
(doesn't sound like that's an issue with your case....)

    Good luck!

Tell me if you find something that works. I've yet to find something that can take that smell out of fabric. My initial reaction was to tell you to have a memorial service for the rug.

Nature's Miracle does work well. I think I remember reading that it also offers the bonus of being a repellant as well. So the spot becomes an adversion rather than an attractant for other animals to do the same thing!
