    Here's what I don't get: what's the potential downside for TN in giving up that land/water?

    Woops! I didn't even think about that. Of course not that Georgia. She's swell.

    But our inferior neighbor to the south better check itself.

    Considering the growth potential of the Tennessee Valley over the next 50 years, I say we keep it to ourselves.

    Water is the new oil, Jah.

    Atlanta's main water source Lake Lanier has lost a lot of water volume due to the growing population and with the help of the drought, so they need water.

    If they move the line they will have water rights to the Tennessee River.

    Water, water, everywhere,
    And all the boards did shrink;
    Water, water, everywhere,
    Nor any drop to drink.

    the land probably isn't an issue, but if tennessee gives up the water, georgia (the state) doesn't have to do anything responsible about its water consumption in the near future until they suck all the water out of the tennessee.

    then we're all up the creek. without any water.

    i've never met her, but i'm sure georgia (the blabber) is a fine person and probably is responsible with her water consumption.
