Did anyone watch County Commission today, live or on CTV? It was hours of fun!

Moore and Pinkston kept asking the same question over and over like the answer would change if they just tried once more.

Lumpy lit in to a tale in which "hard-working people in my district" call Mark Harmon "that university twit," and Harmon almost bit his head off. Moore lost control of the meeting and deprived Lambert of any opportunity to defend himself by rushing whatever was at issue to vote to stop the squabbling, then Norman asked Lumpy to apologize to Harmon and he would not.

Owings said he has had Richard Walls' audit of Mayoral finances for several months, but he is still not prepared to comment on it. Compelling evidence that Ragsdale's car/travel money and spending was both Commission-approved and consistent with prior Mayor's budgets was given by not just the finance director, but the law director.

News of a recently unsealed lawsuit over a composting facility broke in the ugliest way possible, and Lumpy and the entire Commission got their asses royally chewed out by a woman named Ann Robinson for Lumpy's attempt to intimidate Cynthia Finch.

Lumpy is a complete embarrassment and his acts were that of a clown but I don't think he was being a racist. I think Cynthia Finch's effort to make scrutiny of her lax oversight and obvious conflicts of interest all about her race/sex was pathetic, desperate, and a disservice to African-American women. That should not be read to excuse Lumpy's oafish behavior, however.

Lumpy is a complete embarrassment

As embarrassing as Lumpy might be, he is not the worst. Lumpy has little tact, and he is blinded by ideology on some matters, but he is not stupid. Paul Pinkston is stupid. Last night several people from both the county and private interests tried to tell him they were constrained from speaking freely by virtue of pending litigation, but he just kept peppering them with the same questions over and over. Not only was it awkward for those involved, things were said that may interfere with the case. No matter how hard the Law Director and the head of engineering and the private attorneys tried to respect his concerns and ask him to allow the process already underway to proceed, Pinkston just kept hammering on his trivial, idiotic point as if everyone else was speaking Chinese. Both men (and Scoobie too) are embarrassments, but Pinkston takes the cake.
