Default Free early show at the Valarium Friday night...

The Metro Pulse Christmas party is this Friday night, Dec. 21, at the Valarium. The free 8 p.m. show (no shit, 8 p.m. and free) is all ages and features Southern Culture on the Skids with the Tim Lee 3 opening.

“We are entering the Chinese Year of the Rat … (which) signals a time for hard work and renewal. We are counseled to reclaim and magnify our sense of humor. We will need these attributes as we move through 2008. An election year is always a time of change, of vigilance and self-examination. We have to be as sturdy and resilient as a rodent.”

What kind of edibles are you all gonna throw from the stage? I suggest some light hors d'oeuvres. Finger sandwiches are nice.

    Default open fire

Rodney could keep a grill beside the drum set and smack a few roasted chestnuts into the crowd between songs with his sticks.

Another healthy--and appealing!--alternative is crudités. I don't think the kids today are getting enough roughage.

Bills suggested Vienna Sausages, but in deference to my Magnolia State upbringing, I'd be more inclined to hurl canned possum. Be prepared to duck.

Are you supposed to hang canned possum upside down to preserve the integrity of the meat?

And, how can you tell if it's dead? It just grins, either way.

I thought we were talking about throwing things. It's a valarium, not a vomitorium.
