Default Call Corker about the Farm Bill

Here's the deal. American agribusinesses like Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) haul in billions of dollars in federal agricultural subsidies every year. Millions of farmers in the developing world do not. They have a hard enough time providing for their families without U.S. agricultural subsidies cutting their legs out from under them as a favor to the American corporate monster.

The subsidies are part of the Farm Bill. The Farm Bill only comes up for a vote once every five years. The Senate will be voting on two amendments that could improve the Farm Bill by limiting government payments to big-agribusiness farmers, which currently receive 75 percent of all subsidies.

You can help millions of farmers fight back against poverty by calling Senator Bob Corker. His vote could make the difference on either amendment. Tell his office that you want him to vote FOR the FRESH amendment and the Grassley-Dorgan Payment Limits Amendment.

    More info here at One.org.

    Corker's phone number is 202-224-3344.

Don't be afraid to call. He works for you. Tell him what to do.

    Ern,

can you explain what happens to the CRP and WRP programs with the FRESH amendment and the Grassley-Dorgan Payment Limits Amendment?

I assume they don't limit those programs do they?
"Greed...is good. Greed is right; greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms, greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge — has marked the upward surge of mankind"

Frankly, I cannot say for sure, but I do not think they do, especially since they are coupled with some other amendments that promote conservation.
