Valerie Plame is suing Cheney, Libby and Rove.
Wasn't this nearly behind us? If Fitzgerald couldn't make the case, what makes her think she can?
If they did wrong in this case (and I don't think anyone knows enough to know whether they did or not), then by all means they should get theirs. I'm just interested in moving on.
Well, I hope we don't move on, because this is the thread that leads to other lies and chicanery within this administration. If this is their Watergate, then "bring it on."

I figure the Repugnant-cans dragged the Bill Clinton thing out forever, and still bring it up, might as well give them a taste of their own medicine. Is it right? No. But screw it. Should we move on? Sure. But if there's any chance of making these guys continue to look like the evil vindictive assholes that they are, then I say go for it.

This would be a civil suit, which is a much different animal from a criminal suit.

Wasn't this nearly behind us?
No, assholes willing to risk intelligence operations and agents for political expediency remain in power. The way to put this behind us would have been for Bush to honor his promise to fire anyone involved in the leak. He is a coward and a liar. There is nothing "behind us" about having a President who lacks the courage to confront important senior staffers when they do wrong.
Speaking of which, there is an even greater traitor still at large, the "drunk American" who told Ahmed Chalabi we had broken Iran's encryption, which he then told Iran. Chalabi had been on the CIA payroll for years, and a new office in the Pentagon was created and inserted near the top of the intelligence hierarchy so the lies of Chalabi and his INC cronies could reach the President without the intelligence agencies who knew better filtering out the bullshit.
We had an Iranian double agent operating high in the executive branch, and no one has been held accountable for that either. There is a huge difference between "behind us" and "swept under the rug."
I don't think anyone knows enough to know whether they did or not
Plame knows what the damage was to her career. She knows what other agents and operations were also exposed. Plenty of people in the CIA and the White House know what happened and what the ramifications were. That information is not absent; it is just hidden behind government secrecy. Rove and gang are using the trust we place in them through high-level security clearances as cover for misdeeds. They have used secrecy to hide their surveillance activities, to cover up numerous human rights abuses in overseas prisons, to stonewall the 9/11 investigation, to hide the dealings of Cheney's energy task force, to obscure the circumstances of Pat Tillman's death.
George W. Bush has a sealed driving record in Texas. Whatever he did required hundreds of community service hours. He was arrested in Maine long ago (while his Daddy was director of the CIA), and newspaper reports at the time mentioned cocaine possession, then the charges vanished, the original police report vanished, and the trooper who made the stop clammed up. The only reason he can't be proven to have deserted his National Guard unit shortly after they instituted mandatory drug testing for pilots is because of missing records. Hiding behind secrecy and powerful connections is a hallmark of the careers of Bush and many in his administration.
Libby's defense strategy is to argue that critical evidence is protected state secrets, therefore he can not get a fair trial. This shit is behind us, in front of us, up in us, on our backs, down our throats and on our hands. And you want to swallow and say, "Thank you, sir, may I have some more."

Further, the more time those assholes have to spend on their legal defense, the less time they'll have to fuck over the country. And the Creepy Veep really needs to be brought out into the light with his involvement. And the whole line that Rove is innocent because he wasn't indicted is nauseating. Maybe he rolled on Libby. Who knows. But just because Fitz didn't feel like he could get a conviction on him, doesn't mean he isn't culpable in a whole range of nefarious deeds. Not only negatively impacting the careers of an undercover spy specializing in WMD, but ultimately America's safety as well. In a time of war! He's a goddamn traitor with the rest of them that were complicit in this. Politics over county. Move on? No fucking way! Their deeds need to be front and center until everyone knows exactly what happened. And who did what. I know people can get scandal fatigue but this isn't just about a blowjob. This has implications on many levels about how our government and those in power are allowed to act.
We are in war because BUSHCO instigated/took us into war. They basically threw the match onto the tenderbox of the Middle East.
If we are not in WWIII, it is because of devine intervention. But, I think we are. Make plans accordingly.

This is a true American, a real patriot, if you ask me. God, we need more people like this...
Said Wilson: "We are under no illusions about how tough this fight will be. But we believe the time has come to hold those who use their official positions to exact personal revenge accountable and responsible for their actions." His wife said they decided to pursue the lawsuit with "heavy hearts."
