Corner Lounge Seized?

Hello all.

I heard this on news radio this morning on the way to work. Apparently it was for not paying taxes or something. I cant find anything online about it. Did anyone else hear about this?

Haven't heard any thing. I do know that I looked into buying the property the last time it shut down and the owner was behind on his property tax.

Apparently, they came in yesterday and shut it down (before opening time), but when Ed showed up, it got straightened out and they were open last night.

There were back taxes. The Corner was seized yesterday but Peter Pan came through and took care of it and the bar was re-opened last night.

Everything is good to go as far as I know.

Chick and Rodney are NOT playing on Thursday but will be back in soon..maybe next Thur..definitely soon.

Yeah, I booked the date with Chick. He wanted to co-bill with someone who used to gig in town..can't remember who.

He called me about 3 weeks ago and told me they couldn't make it and we'd have to book the date another time..then apparently forgot he called me..anyway..I re-booked w/ Randall and the bearded.

Chick will definitely be back around.

Glad everything got worked out. I like the Corner, Would hate to see it go away. I would hate to see any of our music venues closed, But the Corner lounge is sorta special to me. I especially like seeing shows there. Sorry that I missed Randall and the Bearded. The Dirty Works were in Maryville losing a Battle of the bands to a teenage new Metal band. We broke up because of it.

Really!! I guess your band cared more about it than they let on. I thought it was just gonna be "another gig." Too bad to hear about the break-up, bands are hard to keep going and even harder to get energized to make a difference.

hey chris, does this mean memphis is off? i planned on wallpapering the town with flyers saturday morning. maybe we can throw something together. i'm pretty sure i can come up with a temporary backup band.

Something that my boyfriend told me a long time about about battles of the band is that they're completely unreliable as to talent and skill. Usually it's all about whose band brought more groupies and friends. You can't compare apples to oranges and unless you're a cover band, NO band is ever similar enough to another one to declare a winner. Sure, there are bands out there who are really, really bad so that makes that part easy, but crowning a winner is tough. And very subjective. I'm sorry that your bandmates put so much stock in the opinion of others.

The Dirty Works are not broken up, I'm the boozy guitarist and I should know. I think Chris had keyboard problems. The Memphis show is on.
