So what's the latest on the house? Have you moved in? Have you got renovations underway? Do you have pictures?

Wow, some nice details. That'll be something when you're finished.
Are those doctors exam tables I see scattered around?

Beautiful detailing- the woodwork is amazing. You'll love having the pocket doors.
Those who love an old house,
Will never love in vain.
For how can any old house,
used to sun and rain-
With trailing vines that roam
and arching trees above
fail to give it's love
to those who call it home.
(this is a modified version of a needlework piece...I'm sorry to admit but I can't check the wordage because it's in a box somewhere that hasn't gotten unpacked because we're still working on our old house. )

Very nice! There's something deeply satisfying about restoring something old and beautiful, or even just old, instead of throwing up just another pasture palace. Good for you.
Oh man! That is AWESOME!
Now tell us again..what is the neighborhood like? How did you find it? How far is it from the big city itself? How much work does the house need?

The neighborhood is called Lincoln Park. It is a mixed South Asian/Hispanic/White neighborhood.

We came upon it as part of a "Wow. Room for 5 and outdoor space in Brooklyn is now $2 million plus and our dishwasher sucks" discussion. I had participated in a bike event in Jersey City and we decided to contact a realtor over there. JC has huge amounts of Wall Street people because of the affordability of property and the ease of commute. Remember they don't buy the shit they sell...
Commute: 35 minutes to midtown. Joules works at Herald Sqaure/Empire State Building area. Brooklyn was not a good a commute (45 minutes -- on a good day -- and more expensive). My commute is to Newark and New Brunswick (1 hour and 1.5 hours respectively). My commute is now 30 minutes and 45 minutes respectively AND WAY CHEAPER.
House needs 5 years of work (a function of its size and previous "cut-up" disposition.
Y'all come set a spell. Joules is in Knoxville tonight and will be out on the town with the girls. If you'd like to hear her gush about the place, just ask!
