View Full Version : happy news to share
Jon (jah) and I are getting married September 3rd.
:-)
We've planned a small wedding in Bell Buckle, but will follow up with a rockin', larger soiree in Kville sometime in the Fall for local pals. Hope some of you musician types might be willing to play for this happy event.
Life is good.

All right, Jah, you're already about to get into trouble. Women do NOT like being referred to by architectural and engineering terms. Flying buttresses, clerestories, googies, mansards, hipped roofs, merlons, embrasures, etc. Be very careful throwing around the word "turret."
Hey, wait a minute. Cupolas can be nice. And soffitts. OK, I take it back. You young'uns don't listen to me anyhow.

Nope. Gonna keep my kag designation. I've been writing with this name for years and it would be hard to sell stuff with a name nobody knows, plus I like having the same last name as my children.

granjah, obviously.
When we got married, the spouse suggested we use Craigerman. I think he was kidding.
Anyhow, having gone through the ridiculous pain of changing my name for my first marriage, and then changing it back after the divorce, I swore I'd never change it again. Fortunately, the spouse thinks it's as silly for women to automatically take their husband's last name as I do, so no problem there.
I do have trouble with my orthopedist, tho. There's one cranky old lady there that gets confused everytime I give her my insurance card. She can't seem to grasp the fact that a married couple might have different last names.

Oh dear lord, I hope not!
Yes, my first "date" with Jon involved Skirob, HiTop (and their radio show)and more tequila than someone my size should consume. We were supposed to end up at Rikki's but never made it there. Poor Jon never had a chance to have so much as a beer that night because he was too busy caring for me.
It wasn't my finest moment.
And Georgia, thanks for your props on the dress. I rather like it as well :-)

Congratulations to both of you.
Thank you! Thanks you so much to everyone :-)
Your warm wishes put a big smile on my face (and I am already pretty darn happy).
When I ended up divorced, with 3 little kids and a seriously smashed up heart a few years ago, I never dared to hope I would end up with someone as good and kind as Jon. The whole thing was quite wonderfully unexpected. And he's a brave fellow, since I am a package deal (me, plus three other human beings. He's amazing with the children, by the way)
Now I am getting sappy, perhaps even being an exhibitionist ;-), but I am very happy.
As for registering, since Jon and I both already did the wedding-thing, I think we will forgo(sp?) the asking-for-gifts route. I was even a bit shy about wearing anything remotely wedding-like for the event.
Send us your happy thoughts and best wishes, if you like. That will mean a lot. And after our small event in Bell Buckle, we really will be planning a Knoxville celebration with music and beer (and John B., I would LOVE if you guys would play!) to which I hope all Knox Blabbers and even out of towners will come.
