More picks from next week's Hardly Strictly line-up:
Elvis Perkins in Dearland - with the exception of two throw away songs, holy crap this album is good.
Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
John Prine - Germans Afternoons
Doc Watson - mix
Little Feat - Waiting for Columbus
I'm stoked!

I've been too busy (and too sick) to have a proper five, even if we'd done it Wednesday. Also, I am preserving my musical chi in preparation for a bumper crop of October goodness: Supersilent, Fire!, Atlas Sound, Om, the list goes on.

the title track and "the loneliness of the long-distance runner" are typically risible IM epics and there's some filler. but "wasted years" (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4659162333941255704&ei=-gS9SrTAKIKmrAK7hdnjBg&q=iron+maiden+wasted+years&hl=en&client=firefox-a#) might be the best thing they ever did.
haven't we already had this conversation?

- the Fall “Just Step Sideways”
- Erkin Koray “Sana Birseyler Olmus” (aka “Land of a Thousand Dances” in Turkish)
- LCD Soundsystem “Yeah (Crass Version)”

I'm excited about that, too. I never knew all that non-album stuff existed.

I worked at Ardent for a little while back in the '90s and always heard stories about the old facility that had basically been abandoned and locked up, as-is, and hardly touched since, with vinyl biscuits on the presses and everything. If John's started digging into that stuff, he'll probably be unearthing interesting crap for years.

I worked for Kim! Luther doesn't ring a bell. Do you remember where the old Ardent building is? They used to call it "the ______ building," after the street its on, but my mind's a blank now.
