Quote from the wayback machine.
And this was my miss of the whole of the 'Roo.
They played "Nation of Millions," tone to tail, with Griff and Terminator X in the lineup.
I'm a fucking moron for missing this.
But someone got it.

Public Enemy was part of what I called the second shift. Going back to the tent each night after 14 hours of walking/standing, I realized that things were just getting started. Unfortunately my body was shutting down about that time. However from my tent a mile away I fell asleep to Welcome to the Terror Dome.
The entire Bonnaroo experience was just crazy good (except for having to breathe cigarette smoke EVERYWHERE I went - wish there were no smoking areas).
While watching the Decemberists, I was thinking about the power of music. Packed into a tent standing so close with so little air and sweat running down and soaking every square inch of my body and still I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world at that moment. Pure joy.

Yeah, I misread the schedule, showed up about an hour before they were to start. My patience and my knees gave out and I fled for camp.
By the way, if you guys were there way too early like me, I was the white guy at the back trying to use the railing around the sound guy's station for a crutch.

That was just an insanely good Bonnaroo. I'm friggin' sleep deprived have various aches and pains. My voice is pretty shot too. There are so many highlights. Every set that I saw was stellar. Even the weather was near perfect. Whew! Time to recover.

Outstanding shows among oustanding shows:
Merle Haggard
King Sunny Ade
Springsteen
Wilco
Vieux Farka Toure
Surprisingly on their game:
Robert Earl Keen
Booker T & the DBTs
Neko Case (incl. her duet with Triumph)
Off:
Beastie Boys (despite being plagued with tech problems - screens kept going out. I didn't know if mics were also cutting off, but phrases were getting lost. And "Sabotage" endured a surprising car crash brought on by the B-Boys themselves. WTF?)

Yes, thanks (and congrats) to AC for another amazing weekend.
Unexpected highlight of the weekend for me was PE doing "Nation of Millions" in its entirety. I knew I would enjoy seeing them, but I didn't know how much.
I actually enjoyed the Beasties' set (despite the "Sabotage" flubs,) but seeing PE's energy later that same night made the Beasties seem like a bunch of tired old men in hindsight.
MGMT was also really good except WAY too crowded. They probably should have been on a bigger stage - a lot of people couldn't get close enough to escape the sound of NIN over on the Which stage.

I'd like to suggest that next year they just need to book all the groups that I missed this year. Also check with me about my sleep habits before assigning the schedule.
Since I've gotten back, I've been listening to Yeasayer, Passion Pit and Girl Talk. Also just heard a great interview on Fresh Air today with Janelle Monae. These are all things I missed! Lets just have a do-over.
